Forgotten Style: Gidget

In 1965 a young Sally Field played Gidget – a fictional character created by author Frederick Kohner – in the television series of the same name.  Weekly episodes followed the teenage surfer and her relationship with her widowed father.

The series was one of the earlier colour programmes on US television and Gidget’s wardrobe fully maximised it’s access to technicolour.

1. You know how much I love yellow

2. Red and blue with hair ribbons to match

3. Plaid, checks & stripes

4.  Blush pink and more signature red

Even though the series only lasted one season, it gave us 32 episodes worth of fun, colourful outfits and a time capsule of 60s hairstyles.
